-Being a manager means…

-…you’re dealing with every single human in your team that are so different.

-…make a concise decision, and you know how that those implications are going to take a toll on the person. And I think that’s where sometimes it gets hard.

-My fear is that my team, like most of my team, is not happy coming to work every day.

-For me, it’s just about being receptive and at least actually paying attention to how people are feeling.

-Trying to help people achieve the best they can achieve.

-Being able to understand everybody’s personal motivations.

– I really see managing being a coach. I think it’s really to bring the best out of somebody.

-And I think that’s the secret sauce it’s like, you should care as if it was your best friend, you should care as if like you’re growing a relationship with a boyfriend.

-Also understanding that I’m not the only person in the organization. I cannot do that job by myself. I mean, I need my colleagues to succeed.

-Empathy for managers is so important because your team consists of people.

-You need to be open to criticism, be open to feedback, be open to making mistakes.

-Yeah, this is hard. This is hard.

-You know, I think emotional intelligence comes from your background, comes from what you’ve been exposed to, what kind of leadership you’ve had in the past.

-In terms of emotional intelligence, the first step is understanding yours.

-The social part is not my biggest skill.

-Once you understand yours, then you can maybe understand somebody else’s. And once you can understand somebody else’s, you can understand the emotional intelligence of a whole group of people working together.

-You have objectives as business, but without these people, you’ve got nothing.

-It’s about understanding first and foremost.

-So if you can’t do that, then you are failing. And then you’re not a manager.

-Because at the end of the day, I mean, you need to have these skills, to be able to work in a team and just grow.

-It’s the leadership part that allows you to take all those people and those individual parts and bring them to the next level.
